Global Alliance Earns Platinum Award Status for Fourth Consecutive Year

KISSIMMEE, FL, December 4 – The Global Alliance Committee (GAC) of the Osceola County Association of REALTORS® (OSCAR) recently received the coveted Platinum Global Achievement Award from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) for its meritorious work in 2017, making this the fourth consecutive year that GAC earned the Platinum Award.

This is indeed something to be proud of as we are 1 of a total of 15 recipients from among 1200 Associations within NAR & 66 Countries and the smallest Association to get recognized. 5 States got Platinum and out of that the State of Florida captured 6 awards!

The Committee’s purpose as stated on the Association’s website, is to position OSCAR members internationally as the most influential and authoritative representatives of the Florida real estate business and profession; to provide members with exposure within the international arena, as well as an opportunity to be part of an international network that will generate business and contacts; to open new international real estate markets for members; to raise awareness among members of the impact and opportunity of international real estate within their domestic markets, and of the tools available to them to support this business and help them recognize risk; and to minimize barriers to U.S. REALTORS® operating abroad and to foreign investment in Florida real estate.

Imran Mohamed, who serves as Chair for the Global Alliance Committee offered his praise for his fellow members, saying “Our committee, much like our association is committed to excellence.  Through our outreach and events over the past year, we have strived to connect experts in international real estate with members seeking to glean from their experience.  Florida is a hot spot destination for many foreign investors, and with roughly 20% of residential sales in Central Florida going to international buyers, it’s important for us to be a resource for OSCAR members to be able to effectively serve this market niche.”

The Committee’s efforts to engage with OSCAR’s membership on international real estate business topics include a recent hosting of a wine and cheese social event with Lennar, the focus of which was “Increasing Earnings with International Buyers”, in addition to a luncheon this past summer entitled, “Are You Getting Your Share of the $19.4 Billion Florida International Market?”.  The committee also did a fireside chat format breakfast event “How to Avoid Pitfalls When Working with International Clients” Imran also penned a quarterly column on related topics within the Association newsletter, the ReView, and maintain a regular presence at the Florida REALTORS® expo during their annual conference each year.

The GAC global awareness expands beyond business and real estate. Their fundraising efforts to benefit the international disaster relief charity, MERCY CORPS, shows their concern for those facing humanitarian crises around the world.  These are just some of the ways the committee interfaces with other members and industry professionals to highlight the importance of thinking globally.  Efforts such as these and more have garnered them the distinction of earning the Platinum Global Achievement Program Award.

As Platinum Council awardees, the Osceola County Association of REALTORS® is entitled to special benefits, including: Acknowledgement on, the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) page, NAR Global social media pages, and on signage at NAR Global Meetings and conferences; an association feature and profile within NAR’s site on; and an invitation to the REALTORS® Conference and Expo for a photo and champagne toast during the award ceremony.

With continued success in their efforts in the coming year, OSCAR’s Global Alliance Committee will be on track to earn the new Diamond Achievement Award.  This award is reserved for committees who have earned 5 consecutive Platinum Awards.  If you would like to know more about the Global Alliance Committee, you can visit our website at .
